Liquid Confidence

I can think of eight or ten of my friends, not to include me, who could have written this memoir. Smashed, the memoir of a young female partier, however, is a largely untapped phenomenon in the analytical circles, even as drinking by college-aged girls factors greatly into date rape and other oft-discussed young adult issues. Luckily, my experience (and most others I know) with alcohol, pseudoindependence, and college living was relatively free of bad endings. In fact, I would even argue that I might not have had much of a social life if I had not inbibed as much as I did and that alcohol served as a useful bridge from bashful late teens to self-assured mid-thirties woman. (Well, theorhetically. I can't say I still don't suffer from some form of social anxiety.) Of course, I'm not saying to go become a drunk instead of developing important social skills; my use of alochol as a lifeboat until I did is not an example to be followed. All I'm saying is that it happens, and it happens a lot. In fact, I still know many people in my life who never fully graduated from the alcohol crutch. At any rate, I'm interested in reading this, if only to see what the author proposes as a solution to the whole "Girls Gone Wild" years.
